Paschim Guwahati Mahavidyalaya, Dharapur is one of the pioneering colleges in the city of Guwahati with commendable student strength.
This may be attributed to the student friendly environment which it has been maintaining since long years. Even when there were no
hostel facilities students from Meghalaya, Jorhat, Arunachal Pradesh &far flung throng areas of Assam the campus of this college.
Inspite of having students from different states of India, differerent communities culture and tribes the college can boast of a homogeneous identity.
The Paschim Guwahati Mahavidyalya Girls Hostel was established on 1 st August 2018 to meet the demands of the girls students of the college coming
from remote places of the state and also other states. The environment of the hostel is congenial for students from seven states and the spirit of
brotherhood and national integration among students is very strong .The hostel provides an amiable environment for all-round development of students.

Facilities provided in the rooms- Each room of the hostel is furnished with a bed, study table and chair.

Dining Hall -1 Common dining hall having capacity of 50 at a time. The Hostel has a clean, hygienic and well equipped kitchen with storeroom.

Moreover, the hostel is covered under CCTV surveillance and 24 hours security guards to prevent any unwanted intervention from outsides. Sport facilities provided to the boarders in association with the college.
Recreational/Educational activities:
- Television: The boarders are provided with a color television. The T.V time is strictly maintained as per schedule prepared by the Hostel superintendent.
- Conducted tours: As students from various states come to this institution,every year a conducted tour within greater Guwahati area is arranged around the month of December. However, the tour is subjected to availability of funds.
- Picnic cum educational tour: picnic cum educational tour is arranged every year in the month of December.
- Wall magazine: A wall magazine is prepared by the boarders every year to bring out the literacy talents and to help develop the habit of writing.
Food : There is a common hostel mess for boarders with the provision of both vegetarians and non-vegetarians meals.

- Dinner-8:00pm to 9:00pm
Hostel staff: The hostel has sufficient staff members for the smooth running of the hostel. There are cook & watchman (2 each).
Discipline:
- Attendance register: A daily attendance register is maintained for the boarders for the Hostel staff as well
- Personal Leave Register: Every boarder maintains a personal leave register. Only on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday the boarders are allowed to go for marketing.
- Temporary Leave Register: The boarders while going outside the hostel are required to note down their particulars which is verified by the superintendent regularly
- Study Hour: A study Hour is maintained in the morning and evening.
- Prayer meet: All boarders assembled at the prayer meet daily at 6:00 pm.
Rules and Regulations: All the student who are staying in hostel are required to follow the following rules and regulations of the hostel.
- Ragging is strictly prohibited.
- The hostel authority will conduct surprise checks periodically and if any one is found violating the rules, disciplinary actions will be taken against her.
- Hostellers are not allowed to go out of the campus during classes. It is reiterated that the students staying in campus hostels are permitted to go out of the hostels for local shopping on Wednesdays, Sundays and holidays as per following timings.
- Students having any chronic/Communicable disease are not allowed to stay in hostel. Hostellers falling sick or feel symptoms of sickness should be reported to the hostel warden for evacuation to hospital.
- Parents/Guardians/Visitors can meet their ward in hostel with the permission of the hostel warden before 6:00PM. No visitors/parents are allowed to stay in their room. Male visitors are not allowed to visit Students in their living rooms. Visitor timings: Wednesday: 3:00PM to 6:00PM and Sundays: 10AM to 6:00PM
- The Prefect shall monitor proper cleanliness and sanitation in the hostel report to the warden for improvement.
- All kinds of shouting, hooting, violent knocking or any other act, movement or behaviours which are likely to cause disturbance are strictly prohibited.
- Permission must be taken from the warden regarding stay of a female relative in the girl’s hostel.
- Modification or addition of rules may be made and communicated as and when necessary.
Get together and festivals: Throughout the year rules displayed in the hostel and printed copy of hostel rules is given to all the boarders at the time of admission.
Campus: The Hostel campus is clean and surrounded with a high wall.
Hostel Mess:There is Common hostel Mess for boarders with the Provision of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.

Garbage disposal: For garbage disposal system a number of dustbins are provided.
Future planning: To increase the seat capacity by constructing a new building.
- To provide more facilities like- Telephone, computer, gardening and sports facilities.
- Provide more furniture to the rooms etc.
Conclusion: The above mentioned features make the boarders feel this hostel as home far away from home. The college authority is trying to make the hostel one of the best hostel in the city.
