We believe education to be the most patent index for inclusive growth. It has been a means for disadvantaged groups to move out of their unfavourable economic position. It is the manifestation of love and my most cherished possession. Education drives away ignorance and through illumination it emboldens a man towards righteous thought and action. It empowers a woman and enlarges the horizon of her mind and energizes a society and enables people to earn their living with respect and dignity. With that hope Paschim Guwahati Mahavidyalaya was established at a very remote place of, Kamrup district in 1978. The main vision and mission of the College is to spread the light of education to these backward area's.Here we try to impart quality education to our students, who come from various interior places and we try our best to mould them as good human beings and good citizens .This college has emerged as the only Higher Educational institution in this area in imparting education to almost two thousand students from different parts of the state & of other states also. The two streams of Commerce and Arts with 9 Departments and excellent and experienced faculty make the College one of the most prestigious institutes in the entire Kamrup district. We try to maintain discipline, punctuality and regularity among our students. Paschim Guwahati Mahavidyalaya endowed with progressive futuristic outlook aims continual growth in the quality of all academic activities with a sense of commitment to fully meet the expectations of the students, parents and society at large. Our priority is to give preference not only to the students who excel in academic but each and every student of who are best in their own field so that they can successfully build themselves in their future.
Our college cares for the individual development of each and every student. We follow “mentor system” under which each class is put into the multi-pronged web of a teacher. We accord prime importance to the behavioural discipline, moral integrity and cognitive developments of our students. NCC, NSS, Career Guidance Cell, Red Ribbon Club and Women Cell of the college offers integrated services for the multi –faceted development of our students. Our teachers strive to teach not only academic programmes but also life skills needed for students’ self-development with highly resourceful faculty.
The College faced three times NAAC assessment and getC++, B and B+ and preparing for fourth Cycle NAAC inspection.
